ORANGE CHIFFON CAKE

Ingredients

  • 300g flour.
  • 6 eggs.
  • 300g sugar.
  • 100ml water.
  • 100ml orange juice.
  • Zest of 1 orange.
  • 120g seed oil.
  • 1 sachet baking powder.
  • 1 sachet cream of tartar.
  • 1 sachet salt.

METHOD

  1. Separate the egg whites from the yolks.
  2. In a bowl, combine the oil, water, yolks, orange zest, and orange juice.
  3. Begin whipping the egg whites with a pinch of salt, and once partially whipped, add the cream of tartar to help maintain firmness.
  4. Preheat the oven to 160°C.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix together the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, and sugar.
  6. Gradually add the oil and juice mixture to the dry ingredients, blending well.
  7. Gently fold in the whipped egg whites, using a motion from bottom to top to retain the airiness.
  8. Pour the batter into a mold and bake at 160°C for 45-50 minutes.
